About the role
Build pipeline with AI agents and turn research into real customer conversations. As an Agentic SDR (Sales Development Representative) at SOAP Payments, you will combine AI-assisted prospecting with thoughtful outreach to help businesses solve payments challenges. This entry-level role spans researching prospective customers, starting conversations, qualifying opportunities, and supporting deals from discovery through close.
You will begin with a strong focus on building qualified pipeline, using AI tools and agent workflows to support research, outreach preparation, and follow-up. You will review their output for accuracy and relevance and bring your own judgment to every customer interaction. As your product knowledge and selling skills grow, you will develop ownership of customer conversations and sales opportunities. We welcome applicants starting their first sales role, changing careers, or bringing early experience in sales, customer service, hospitality, retail, or other customer-facing work.
What you will do
- Use AI-assisted research to identify merchants and other prospective customers, find relevant decision-makers, and build focused prospect lists; verify key details before outreach.
- Use AI tools to help prepare personalized outreach, then refine it in your own voice and connect with prospects through calls, emails, and professional networking.
- Ask good discovery questions, understand business challenges, and qualify opportunities based on fit, needs, stakeholders, and timing.
- Book qualified meetings and participate in discovery calls, product demonstrations, and follow-up conversations.
- Help prepare proposals, address questions with the right internal partners, and move qualified opportunities toward a decision.
- Take increasing responsibility for suitable sales opportunities, including closing new business with guidance from the team.
- Use agent workflows to support CRM updates, meeting preparation, and follow-up; check the results and keep records, next steps, and pipeline information accurate and current.
- Coordinate with product, operations, and onboarding teams to communicate customer needs and support a smooth handoff.
- Learn payments fundamentals, practice your sales skills, and experiment with AI-assisted workflows to improve outreach relevance, qualified meetings, and pipeline quality.
What you bring
- Clear written and verbal communication, active listening, and curiosity about customers' businesses.
- Willingness to initiate outbound conversations, handle rejection professionally, and follow through consistently.
- Strong organization and attention to detail, including tracking commitments and keeping accurate records.
- A coachable approach: you seek feedback, practice, and take ownership of your progress.
- Interest in payments, financial technology, and helping businesses evaluate new solutions.
- Comfort learning CRM software, AI assistants, and agent workflows, with a habit of checking generated information before using it.
No prior payments experience, coding experience, or college degree is required. Previous sales experience is welcome but is not required.
Helpful, but not required
- Customer-facing experience from work, internships, volunteering, or student activities.
- Exposure to prospecting, appointment setting, CRM tools, or business-to-business sales.
- Experience experimenting with AI assistants or no-code automation for research, writing, or organizing work.
- Familiarity with payment processing, merchant services, or financial technology.
What success looks like
You build a consistent prospecting routine supported by reliable AI workflows, create well-qualified opportunities, and maintain accurate follow-up and CRM records. Success includes relevant outreach, qualified meetings that progress, strong customer conversations, teamwork, and contribution to new business. As you grow, you develop the ability to guide customers through more of the buying process.
SOAP Payments welcomes applicants with different backgrounds and experience levels.
